Sol YurikSol Yurick (1925-2013) was a left-wing, radical writer in America at a time when such men were not appreciated for their talents. Best known as the author of The Warriors, he wrote three great novels of social realism in the 1960s which demonsrated his flair for satire and acid-sharp observation about the social structure of his home city, New York. As the Guardian wrote in his obituary, no writer more fully embodied the city's anguished spirit in the 1960s. Before becoming a writer, Sol worked in the department of welfare in New York.
