Stein MehrenStein Mehren (1935-2017) lived in Oslo, Norway. Within Scandinavia he is highly regarded as an outstanding poet and an accomplished essayist. His deepest concerns are about man’s place in nature, life and death, and the storms of the heart. He has received countless awards for his work in Scandinavia, including the Norwegian Academy's Literature Prize. Only some of his poems have been published in English translation; one such is Gordon Walmsley’s translation of nine poems in an anthology of Nordic poets, Fire and Ice (Salmon Publishing, 2004).
