STEPHEN DUXBURY, a Lancashire writer and local historian, wrote The Brief History of Lancashire as a tribute to his beloved county during a long exile in Kent. He returns to the county as often as he can, and in the meantime he has collecte hundreds of books, rare pamphlets, magazines and booklets on the history of Lancashire and the surrounding area.
