Steve's initial professional coaching appointment (1993) to the Gold Coast Australian Rugby League franchise was followed by roles with the Western Reds and Melbourne Storm (NRL 1999 Grand Final winners). Steve also held the position of assistant coach with the Australian Kangaroos, which won the 2000 World Cup. After the Rugby League World Cup, Steve headed to the UK Super League firstly with Leeds Rhinos before accepting a head coaching position with Warrington Wolves.
