Sudeshna PurkayasthaSudeshna Purkayastha teaches history at Assam University, Silchar. Her areas of interest include economic and social history of colonial India in general and Assam in particular, as well as the vernacular historiography of Assam in the nineteenth andearly twentieth centuries and the colonial expansion in India.
