Susan Jean HacheySusan Hachey was born in Fredericton, New Brunswick to a military family. When she was only six, her father was posted in Germany, and the family lived there for four years. The family then landed in Winnipeg, then Shilo, Manitoba before finally setting back in New Brunswick for good.

A true "mama bird," in addition to her biological son and daughter, Susan raised an adopted daughter and her grandson. She is a self-taught entrepreneur and ran a campground as well as other ventures for several years.
