Susan V FeehanBorn in England during WWII, Susan grew up in a world of great danger and uncertainty, but the strength of community helped her family survive. When a neighbor's house was destroyed by a bomb, the displaced family became part of Susan's family. In tie, three more families also moved in. The children played outside in the garden when it was safe. They created their own games by using imagination, making secret hideouts in the bushes, and tents from sheets hanging on the washing line. Toys were rare but creativity thrived. As an extended family they shared what little they had, making use of items that today we would throw away. Such as reusing yarn to make a sweater for a growing child. Susan came to USA in 1965 and became a citizen. She worked in accounting until almost retirement, then started writing children's books. Susan created the Droogledot family to help as reminders about behaviors that we all value but sometimes forget in a busy technology-driven world: sharing, caring for others, bravery and self esteem. The Droogledots also tackle issues such as the need to respect boundaries, jealousy and bullying with story lines that both teach and delight.
