Susanna Rowson
Susanna Rowson (1762-1824) was an acclaimed writer and educator born in England but raised in the U.S. Her family returned to London in 1778 where she worked as a governess before publishing her first novel, Victoria. Rowson producedmany more titles including her biggest success Charlotte: A Tale of Truth, also known as Charlotte Temple. Aside from literature, Rowson was an accomplished stage actor who performed and wrote many plays. Her diverse career spanned multiple mediums making her one of the most prominent writers of her time.
