Switakowski Andrzej MarianProf. Dr hab. Andrzej Marian S�wiatkowski (born 17 January 1944 in Warsaw) studied law and sociology at the Jagiellonian University in Cracow (1961-1969). He gained a degree in law (1966) and an MA in sociology (1969). After two years clerking at he district court in Cracow, he received a doctorate in labour law from the Institute of Legal Sciences of the Polish Academy of Science in Warsaw (1972). Dr S�wiatkowski studied at the Columbia Law School in New York. He gained an LLM degree in labour law from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia (1977). In Poland, he received the habilitation degree from the Jagiellonian University in Cracow in the field of labour law and social policy (1976). Dr hab. A. S�wiatkowski spent a year as distinguished research fellow at the National Institute of Public Management in Washington, DC (1977-1978). After returning to his post at the Jagiellonian University, he was appointed to the position of extraordinary professor of law (1984) and ordinary professor of law (1991). Professor S�wiatkowski spent one semester as a visiting scholar at New York University School of Law and another semester as a visiting professor at Indiana University. He lectured at various universities in Europe, United States, Argentina, and Australia. He delivered papers at International Industrial Relations Association congresses in Dublin, Helsinki, Oslo, Sydney, Tokyo and Santiago de Chile. Professor S�wiatkowski acted as an editor-in-chief of two legal journals The Jagiellonian University Yearbook of Labour Law and Social Policypublished in 1989-1999 in English, andStudies in Labour Law and Social Policypublished since 1994 in Polish. He was also a co-editor of theEast-West Review of Social Policy published by the Catholic University of Brabant in Tilburg.
