T Harry WilliamsThomas Harry Williams (1909-1979) was an award-winning author and historian who garnered numerous academic honors. He is perhaps best known for his American Civil War studies and his 1969 work Huey Long, the definitive studyof Huey Pierce Long, Jr., which won both the National Book Award and the Pulitzer Prize. Other acclaimed works include Lincoln and the Radicals (1941), P.G.T. Beauregard, Napoleon in Gray (1955), Romance and Realism in Southern Politics (1961), McClellan, Sherman, and Grant (1962), and posthumously History of American Wars (1981). In 1964, he received the Harry S. Truman Award in Civil War History. Upon his death, the Louisiana State University Board of Supervisors established the T.
