Tarek Saadawi
Prof. Tarek N. Saadawi earned his B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees from Cairo University in 1973 and 1975, respectively, and his Ph.D. from the University of Maryland in 1980, all in Electrical Engineering. Since then, he has been with the Electrical Enginering Department at The City University of New York, City College, where he currently directs the Center of Information Networking and Telecommunications (CINT) and teaches courses on network security, computer networks, and communications systems. His research interests include telecommunications network security, high-speed networks, and mobile ad-hoc networks. He has published extensively in these areas and co-edited the books "Cyber Infrastructure Protection" and "Fundamentals of Telecommunication Networks."
Dr. Saadawi has been involved in various professional activities, including co-chairing the NSF Workshop on Cyber Security in Cairo and serving on the Consortium Management Committee for the Army Research Lab. He is a Senior Member of IEEE, a former Technical Editor for IEEE Communications, and has received the IEEE Region 1 Award. Additionally, he co-founded the IEEE Symposium on Computers and Communications and has participated in US government delegations to improve rural communications in Algeria and develop a telecommunications master plan for Egypt.
