Ternot MacrenatoTernot MacRenato, PhD, immigrated to San Francisco from Nicaragua during the 1950s. He lived through the political activism of the 1960s and '70s and experienced the consolidation of the Chicano movement as it intersects with immigrant groups from Cetral America. In the late 1970s, he returned to Nicaragua to fight in Southern Front during the Sandinista Revolution. Upon his return to California, he taught Chicano and Latin American History for many years at San Diego City College, and earned his PhD from the University of California, San Diego. He is the author of many articles and of the book America's Favorite SOB: General Anastasio Somoza García, American Made Nicaraguan Dictator (2013). He is now retired and lives in Chula Vista.
