Thomas Wayne Edison PhD
Dr Thomas Wayne Edison is an Associate Professor of Spanish in the Department of Classical and Modern Languages at the University of Louisville, Louisville, KY. His area of scholarship includes Afro-Caribbean Culture and Identity. This two-time Fubright Scholar published his first book titled Ashe-Caribbean Literary Aesthetic in the Cuban, Colombian, Costa Rican, and Panamanian Novel of Resistance in 2020 with Lexington Books. The book focuses on the intersection between African spirituality and selected Hispanophone Caribbean novel. His most recent book that he edited is titled Candombe: arte universal and was published in Baker Books (2024). Dr. Edison is very committed to looking at Black identity from a global perspective, especially the erasure of Afro-Latinx populations.
