Valentina AlexandreValentina Alexandre was born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti and immigrated to New York, USA at the age of ten. Learning a new language sparked in her a love of reading and eventually led her to poetry. She obtained her Bachelor's Degree in English at New Yrk University, and received her Master's Degree at Fordham University for 7th - 12th Grades English Adolescent Education. She's on her 7th year as a New York City educator, and currently teaches at a middle school in Bushwick, Brooklyn. Her favorite writers and poets include Toni Morrison, Audre Lorde, James Baldwin, Nayyirah Waheed, Tonya Ingram, Warsan Shire, Jasmine Mans, Maya Angelou, and more. She performs her work frequently at the famous Nuyorican Poet's Cafe, and the Bowery Poetry Club in New York City.
