Walt AblemanHello Friends and Parents! Walt Ableman is a new children's author who lives in the Pacific Northwest region of British Columbia, Canada, near Vancouver. And although Walt is new to the children's genre, he has been a creative fiction writer for overthirty-five years. His children's writing focus will be the creation and development of the Guardians of Gaia Series for young readers and their parents. The pilot book for this series is titled "Pedro's Adventure - The First Story in the Guardians of Gaia Series". This first book introduces the events and backstory of how this adventurous story world becomes the Guardians of Gaia Series. Walt's motivation to write this series comes from his early pre-technology childhood in the United States and Canada in the mid-sixties to early seventies. It was a time when children had fewer entertainment options and relied on their imaginations to create their own magical realms with fewer toys in places like yards, bushes, fields, and trees. In today's North America, the pendulum has swung dramatically to screens and life indoors. Walt hopes to foster the curiosity that all children have with their outdoor environments that are easily accessible to them and their parents. The general focus and theme of this series, which could be called its thesis, encourages our children to live simply and take care of one another unconditionally. And the series will also promote doing no harm to the natural world and the resident animals who live in these places around us. The series will softly say over time that if we do these things, we can recover and live. And this series will openly ask our children to grow and lead our adult world toward something better through better models of relating to one another and our planet. The story subtexts will always aim toward hope and coming together.And of course, the real essence of being a true Guardian in this series is to have fun and enjoy what the real and natural world around us has to offer and to become ever more curious about it. Not just a series of purely fictional books, the series' goal includes incorporating companion books for notes and colouring, and field guides with sketches on how to build forts and tents in the yard from scratch and turning part of a shed into an outpost. It will encourage curiosity about climate and weather, birds, animals, as well as plants, trees, rocks, and geology.Walt also wants you to know that he will always be working to continuously improve every aspect of these materials, books, and publications in whatever form they take. This is a start-up for Walt as he works through rehabilitation from sudden job loss due to a spinal cord injury. Thrust into a life-changing scenario, he remains optimistic about his long recovery and wants you to know that his short visits into a small old-growth forest behind his complex and the nature that lives there is an inspiration for his recovery and this series.
