He became known for his commitment to progressive and socialist ideals, particularly inthe field of adult education. Vrooman co-founded Ruskin College in Oxford, England, alongside Charles A. Beard in 1899. The institution was created to provide working-class men access to university-level education, reflecting Vrooman s belief in social equality through knowledge. Vrooman s educational philosophy was deeply influenced by socialism and a desire to challenge traditional academic elitism. His life was cut short when he died in 1909 at the age of 40, but his influence lived on in the institutions he helped build and in the democratic educational ideals he championed.
