Wim DierckxsensWim Dierckxsens is currently a Research Fellow at the Departamento Ecumenico de Investigaciones (DEI)in Costa Rica. Born in the Netherlands, and trained as a sociologist at the University of Brabant and as a demographer at the Sorbonne, he obtained hs doctorate at the University of Nijmegen. In 1971 he moved to Central America where he has lived ever since, holding a number of posts including working at the Latin American Centre for Demography and serving as Director of Postgraduate Studies in Economics at the Autonomous National University of Honduras. He is the author of a number of books in Spanish.
