Zak Foste

Zak Foste is an Assistant Professor of Higher Education Administration at theUniversity of Kansas. His researchcritically explores whiteness in American higher education. This work examinesboth how whiteness functions to underwrite racially hostil and unwelcomingcampus climates for Students of Color and the ways in which white collegestudents understand their relationship to race and whiteness. His most recentwork has examined how whiteness structures students' experiences in campusresidence halls and community service-learning programs. Zak received hisbachelors degree in sociology and political science from Western IllinoisUniversity, his masters degree in Student Affairs in Higher Education fromMiami University, and his Ph.D. in Higher Education & Student Affairs fromThe Ohio State University.
