Zephram de ColebiDe Colebi grew up on a farm outside the coastal village of Wiscasset, Maine. He studied art in Portland after high school graduation, and graduated from the University of Maine at Orono. He then hitchhiked alone across Canada before living in a commue in Oakland, California for two years in the early 1970s. He received teaching certification from Westminster College in Salt Lake City, where he started his teaching career. He later moved east to Pennsylvania and earned special education certification from Kutztown University and taught for two decades. He is a co-founder of The Hermitage, a Harmonist spiritual center in central Pennsylvania. In retirement, he returned to painting. Read More Read Less
