Der 8. Band vereinigt die bis ins Todesjahr Fürst Ludwigs von Anhalt-Köthen gewechselten Briefe der Fruchtbringenden Gesellschaft (1647-1650) und deren Beilagen. Historisch reichen sie über den Schluss des eigentlichen Westfälischen Friedens und seiner Nürnberger Ausführungsbestimmungen hinaus, fast
schon bis zur Wahl Herzog Wilhelms IV. von Sachsen-Weimar zum nächsten Oberhaupt der Akademie. Gesellschaftsgeschichtlich umfasst der 8. Band die Aufnahme des Großen Kurfürsten und den Eintritt vieler Märker, Pfälzer, Österreicher, Schlesier und Schweden (Wrangel und der künftige König Karl X.Gustav).
Zu den produktivsten Neumitgliedern zählen Andreae, Rist, Stubenberg, Logau und Zesen, welcher aber
wegen seiner Schreibweisen auf scharfe Kritik stieß und fast den Verlust seiner Mitgliedschaft in der Akademie riskierte. Literarisch erstreckt sich die Dokumentation von Carl Gustav von Hilles umfassender Darstellung der Gesellschaft (1647) über Schottelius', Rists und Birkens Friedensdichtungen, Glasenapps und Harsdörffers Erbaungslieder, Schottelius' Fruchtbringenden Lustgarten (1647) und Schneubers Gedichte bis zu Olearius' russischer und persischer Reisebeschreibung und der an Huldigungen der Fruchtbringer reichen Ausgabe von Moscheroschs Gesichten Philanders von Sittewalt von 1650. Hervorzuheben sind auch Harsdörffers Poetischer Trichter, die Bände seines Schauplatz- Projekts und die Vollendung der Frauenzimmer-Gesprächspiele. Fürst Christian II. von Anhalt-Bernburg tritt als Vermittler neuer Mitglieder hervor und bereichert den Austausch um Aspekte der religiösen Erbauung, höfischen Bildung und überparteilichen Verständigung. Obgleich die systematische Spracharbeit in den Briefen des 8. Bands zurückgeht, verfolgen diese das Projekt eines vollständigen deutschen Wörterbuchs als vorrangiges Anliegen fruchtbringerischer Sprachbemühungen. Herzog Augusts d. J. von Braunschweig-Wolfenbüttel weiter verfolgte und radikalisierte sprachliche Revision der Lutherbibel in den neuen Ausgaben seiner Evangelischen Kirchen-Harmonie widerstrebt dabei der von Fürst Ludwig und Christian Gueintz angesteuerten Regulierung der Sprache auf meißnischer Grundlage. Andreae tadelt in der Beratung der Bibelarbeit des Herzogs die für Schwaben anstößige mundartliche Färbung, Harsdörffer beharrt auf angestammter fränkischer Lautung und selbst des Herzogs Hofphilologe Schottelius zieht es offenbar vor, auf eine Korrektur seines Herrn zu verzichten und seine neue Sprachkunst (1651) ohne das erarbeitete Kapitel über deutsche Orthographie zu veröffentlichen. Es ist jedoch die grammatische Herleitung des Stammworts und eine dem Vorhaben nicht gemäße gelehrte Streitlust, die die verheißungsvollen lexikographischen Anläufe am Ende scheitern lassen. Zu den vielen Entdeckungen des Bands gehören auch die zumeist Fürst Ludwig zuschreibbaren Übersetzungen französischer Bücher, die der Fürst nebst der Reimchronik seiner Jugendreisen, der Übertragung großer theologischer Arbeiten Pietro Martire Vermiglis und der vollendeten tacitistischen Prosa in den übersetzten politischen Biographien Malvezzis schuf. Wie ein letztes Aufglühen vor dem Erlöschen eines Feuers muten Ludwigs unveröffentlichte Lehrdichtungen über alttestamentarische Bücher an.
