This book contains the contributions to the 4th German--Korean Symposium on "Advanced Polymeric Materials -- New Synthetic Routes and Applications", held at Dresden, Germany. An excellent overview of present research fields in both contries, from modification of well--known polymers to new polymer structures, from new surface modification to applications in the microsystem techniques and biocompatibility of polymers is given. Further fileds such as optimization of optical properties, liquid crystalline polymers, and rod--like polymers are also discussed.
