Einen wichtigen Beitrag hierzu können Aufgaben liefern. Die Literaturdidaktik beschäftigt sich unter anderem mit der Frage, was gute Aufgaben sind und wie diese im Deutschunterricht aufgebaut und formuliert sein müssen. Unterschieden werden Aufgaben zudem übergeordnet in Lern- und Leistungsaufgaben, wobei erstere zum Erkenntnisgewinn im Unterricht abzielt und letztere zur Überprüfung von Wissen dient. Gute Lernaufgaben sollen gegliedert und verständlich operational ausformuliert sein, werden durch passende Materialien und Sozialformen unterstützt, sind nicht beliebig, wenn sie offen formuliert sind, fordern heraus und regen zum Tun an, berücksichtigen die Interessenlagen und die Lebenswelt der Schülerinnen und Schüler, knüpfen an Vorwissen an und ermöglichen einen möglichst eigenständigen Erkenntnisgewinn, sollten differenzierbar sein und sind hinsichtlich ihres Umfangs zeitlich und inhaltlich angemessen zu bewältigen. Je nach Schwierigkeitsgrad zählt eine Aufgabe zu einem von insgesamt drei Anforderungsbereichen, auf die innerhalb dieser Hausarbeit eingegangen werden soll, nachdem auf die Unterteilung von Lernaufgaben Bezug genommen wird. Hier soll sich auf die Entwicklung eines Lernaufgabenkomplexes konzentriert werden. Die Aufgabe soll kompetenzorientiert ausgerichtet sein, da es in der heutigen Fachdidaktik immer mehr darauf ankommt, neben den Inhalten auch Kompetenzen zu schulen. Diesbezüglich sollen die Wahl des Gegenstandes und der Materialien sowie die Konzeption und die Merkmale der Aufgabe mit dem Curriculum des bestimmten Jahrgangs legitimiert werden.
