Inhaltsangabe: Einleitung: Mit dem im November 2004 in Großbritannien erschienenen Weißbuch der Volksgesundheit wird für so genannte kritische Lebensmittel eine umfangreiche Beschränkung der Werbung, die auf Kinder und Jugendliche abzielt, gefordert. Die Beschränkung soll sich nicht nur auf Fernsehwerbung beziehen, sondern auch auf Sponsoring, Promotionaktionen, Aktionen am Point of Sale, einschließlich Automatenverkauf in Schulen sowie auf Produktkennzeichnungen. Ferner wird in Großbritannien über die Einführung einer Deklarierung von Lebensmitteln mit Hilfe eines einfachen Ampelsystems nachgedacht. Dieses System sieht vor, Lebensmittel mit jeweils einer der drei Ampelfarben zu kennzeichnen. Grün deklarierte Produkte sollen den Verbraucher z. B. darüber informieren, dass es sich um gesundheitlich unbedenkliche Nahrungsmittel handelt und diese Produkte daher unbegrenzt konsumiert werden können. Diese Art der Ernährungsinformation soll jeden Bürger in die Lage versetzen, selbst verantwortungsvolle Ernährungsentscheidungen zu treffen. Allerdings herrscht über das genaue Zuordnungssystem einzelner Lebensmittel zu den drei Farben derzeit kein Konsens. Aus dem ersten Beispiel kann rück geschlossen werden, dass Minderjährige oft Zielgruppe von Ernährungsinformationen in Form von Werbemaßnahmen sind, welche sich nicht gesundheitsförderlich auswirken. Der Überfluss sowie die Übertragungsart dieser Ernährungsinformationen scheint nach britischer Meinung das Verhalten der Kinder und Jugendlichen negativ zu beeinflussen. Folglich sieht die britische Regierung die Notwendigkeit, die auf Kinder ausgerichtete Werbung für kritische Lebensmittel zu reglementieren, um das weit verbreitete Fehlernährungsverhalten einzudämmen. Aus dem zweiten Beispiel kann ebenfalls abgeleitet werden, dass die Briten einen kausalen Zusammenhang zwischen Ernährungsinformationen und dem Ernährungsverhalten sehen.
