About the Book

"When you're head of security for the investment-banking corporation hosting the shindigs and a group of well-armed Russians crashes the party, it doesn't look good on your permanent record." Attending the private New Year's Eve soiree for the Board of Directors of MinBank Corporation, 47-year old Paul Byrnes was resting on his laurels. Hobnobbing with the upper echelon in the Penthouse suite of the corporation's Chicago headquarters didn't hurt his feelings either. When a group of Russians interrupt the party with a bank heist, he had been reflecting on his good fortune. Paul had married his childhood sweetheart right out of high school, produced two intelligent children, and two months, three weeks prior to the party was appointed to the job he had wanted the moment he met his predecessor-Security Chief for one of the biggest investment bankers in the central time zone. His life hadn't been pristine or privileged, so the coveted job meant more to him than most. Paul was the only child of blue collar parents. Once in school he fell early into a gang of hoodlums, garnering street smarts while walking a precarious line between incarceration and freedom. The gang was composed of friends to whom every member had pledged unending loyalty. Paul loved the reputation and the perks of being a bad boy. Chicks were a hobby he was proficient at collecting. It took the influence of prim and proper Catholic girl, Peaches Sweet, before Paul found motivation in areas other than stealing car parts, truancy, and learning how to dodge the cops. With Peaches staunchly supporting his good side, Paul began his career in the security industry. Along the way, he acquires a college degree, a gambling habit, and the uneasy friendship of a powerful man who would mark him for life. Fast forward to that fateful night. Paul's 20 years of dedication to his craft did little to prepare him for the aftermath of that nearly clueless robbery at the corporation's exclusive holiday party. Visions of the Russian heist leader would plague and frustrate him for over four years while he attempted to solve the puzzle. The closer he drew to the answers, the more the trail seemed to twist and turn away from him. His ever-growing obsession slowly fractures his family and leaves him questioning his every move. Like any good but flawed hero, Paul stumbles onto the ultimate revelation with explosive results. The question was; would he risk what meant the most to him for the answer?
