About the Book

President Hilda Rodman, the 44th president of the United States, concluded her "Peace In The Middle East" speech to a Joint Session of Congress and stood basking in the glow of a prolonged standing ovation. I won, she gloated. ... As if on cue, a member of Rodman's security detail approached. "Madam President, Secretary Alexander has been trying to reach you."
General Donald O'Neil, chairman of the Joint Chiefs, caught up with Rodman and Sarah Bloomberg, "Madam President," he said softly, "I've received a very troubling report concerning an al-Qaeda video broadcasted at 2 p.m. My staff considers the threat valid. Secretary Alexander is at Kirtland Air Force Base, and we think a nuclear attack is imminent. "...
Still carping about Alexander, Bloomberg walked beside Rodman toward the presidential limousine. "That fool has the military taking the terrorists seriously."
President Rodman laughed. She was about to reply when a brilliant, white light, many times brighter than the sun, appeared directly in front of her.
The atomic detonation destroys America's central government. Can America survive? The answer is the story told in books 2 through 6 of the series. Behold, an Ashen Horse is the story of survival and retribution.

Usama bin Laden spent years setting up his final operation against the Great Satan, Allah's Rings. It would be his last and most audacious terrorist attack, detonating five atomic devices in five American cities. President Bush's response to bin Laden's 9/11 attacks disrupted the operation and became dormant.

An Iranian Ayatollah obtained control of the operation and waited for the ideal time to activate it-a plan to bring the Great Satan to its knees and establish the Islamic Empire, the Caliphate. When the ayatollah learned Rodman would address a Joint Session of Congress, he activated the operation and set the detonation time when he expected Rodman to be outside the Capitol building with the top tier of the U.S. government.

Behold, an Ashen Horse is the second book of an alternative history series based on the assumption one or more historical events happened differently. Hilda Rodman defeated George Bush and became the 44th president.
