About the Book

Three humorous courtroom dramas about the life, escapades and legal exploits of Bruce West, a young, successful Baltimore attorney, in a single volume. In the first novel, "A lawyer's Revenge," Bruce represents a client accused of rape. Not only does his client offer a preposterous alibi, but he stiffs Bruce for his fee. As the heat of the courtroom drama unfolds, Bruce is overcome by his compulsion to win, despite his determination to exact revenge. In "Conspiracy," Bruce represents a middle aged couple who are accused by the FBI of conspiring with an elected government official to conduct a fraudulent marriage ring in violation of the nation's immigration laws. Bruce engages upon a very risky strategy for their defense which could have career-threatening consequences and could result in long prison sentences for his clients if he is unsuccessful. In "Mistaken Identity,", Bruce is retained by a prostitute to represent her son who has been arrested and charged with an armed robbery. Despite his client's prior history of convictions for similar offenses and the positive identification by the victim, Bruce is convinced that the victim is mistaken about the identity of the person who robbed her. From the first interview through the conclusion of the trial, Bruce finds himself dodging the determined efforts of his client's mother to trade her services for his fee.
About the Author: Ron Sharrow spent most of his life in Baltimore, Maryland. He attended The Baltimore City College, The University of Maryland and earned his JD degree at the University of Baltimore - School of Law. After his retirement, he and his wife, Beth, moved to California. They divide their time between their home in Rancho Mirage and their Central Park apartment in New York City. During the course of his 35 year legal career, he kept a journal of the stupid things people said to him and the preposterous stories told to him by clients. He also noted some of the strange criminal cases he tried that had interesting twists and surprise results. After he retired, he was sorting through a lifetime of accumulated stuff stored in his basement making the difficult decisions deciding what was going to the dumpster and what was going to make the cross-country journey to California. The journal surfaced and he found himself sitting on the basement steps laughing as he leafed through it, recalling the stories and people he memorialized in that diary. It was then he realized that the material was priceless...funnier than fiction. It needed to be shared. He spent the next year writing "A Lawyer's Revenge" which became the first in the series of C. Bruce West Novels. Some elements of the stories are autobiographical and many of the characters are based upon people who had filtered in and out of the author's life over the years. The novels are fictionalized accounts of the material from his journal. The plots are based upon actual cases and events which he encountered during the course of his career. Ron says he was entertained when he wrote the books and has been told by readers that they were entertained when they read them. "Nothing is more gratifying to me than knowing that my stories made someone smile, or better yet...that they laughed out loud." Ron Sharrow
