About the Book

"Calculus and Analytic Geometry" is designed for the standard 3-term calculus sequence taken by maths, engineering, and science students. The fifth edition was developed in response to the needs of today's students and instructors. It offers more explanation, an enhanced four-colour design with many new or redrawn illustrations, an expanded range of problem sets, and increased coverage of multivariable calculus. The book now contains short conceptual exercises, some of which require a student to interpret a diagram or write a sentence or two, and an increased number of routine exercises for those students who require more grounding in the basics. The book places emphasis on sketching diagrams, which the authors consider an important skill. An instructor's manual, a solutions manual and software are also available.
