His major publications include The MissileCrisis of October 1962; America and Indochine Wars: ABiographical Guide; The Cuba-Caribbean Missile Crisis ofOctober 1962; and America and the Iraqi Crisis, 1990-1992. He has been a Fellow of the Middle Eastern Association and the Harry S. Truman Institute.
Richard Dean Burns retired as chair of the History Department at California State University--Los Angeles six years ago and is currently running his own publishing company specializing in scholarly works on foreign policy and ancient history. He is an expert in foreign policy and reference works. He edited the Encyclopedia of ArmsControl and Disarmament, which won the Political Science award from the Professional and Scholarly Publishing Arm of the AAP.
