(2a edição impressa, 2013) "Este texto é realmente inédito em seu tema de estudo, referência obrigatória a trabalhos futuros" (Prof. Dr. Nicholas Ford, autor [com David Brown] de "Surfing and Social Theory: the experience, embodiment and narrative of the dream glide", Routledge, 2006). Este trabalho é uma análise da pedagogia do Surfe, conduzido por um grupo de pesquisadores ligados ao Laboratório de Biomecânica e Comportamento Motor da Universidade do Estado do Rio de Janeiro. Examinamos a literatura acadêmica acerca do Surfe e da Educação Física, no intuito de prover professores e Escolinhas com um racional científico que auxilie os estudantes à tomada de consciência na prática do esporte. Neste momento, concentramos nossa atenção sobre os resultados de nossa pesquisa, os quais nos sugerem que a abordagem pedagógica atualmente adotada no ensino desta modalidade parece capaz de levar os aprendizes a certas compreensões equivocadas, em termos dos principais perigos e limites de segurança marítimos concernentes ao processo de familiarização com o ambiente do Surfe. Até agora não conseguimos identificar - quer a nível nacional, quer fora do Brasil - trabalhos técnico-científicos voltados à pedagogia do Surfe que possam ter sido publicados na forma de livros. Referências ao nosso estudo incluem publicações científicas em Pedagogia, Didática, Aprendizagem Motora, Fisiologia, Treinamento Desportivo, Anatomia, Biomecânica, Imaginário Social, Oceanografia, Biologia Marinha e Treinamento Militar, além de obras jornalísticas, artísticas e literárias voltadas ao Surfe. Nosso projeto foi primordialmente pensado como fonte de referência teórica e prática aos profissionais envolvidos com o ensino do Surfe (professores e estudantes de Educação Física), e também como meio à instrumentalização deste esporte por parte do Corpo de Bombeiro Militar do Estado do Rio de Janeiro, nos cursos de formação de seus Grupamentos Marítimos. Sua estrutura metodológica dispensa o fenômeno da "assistência motora direta e verbal indevida" no processo de ensino; alternativamente, apresentamos estratégias para a adoção do Estado de Natureza como indicador de respeito às individualidades, e da ação pedagógica, formal e precisa, como garantia de melhor eficácia e eficiência do processo de ensino.
