Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2010 im Fachbereich Führung und Personal - Sonstiges, Note: 1,7, Freie Universität Berlin (Management), Veranstaltung: Corporate Governance and Corporate Social Responsibilty in International Comparison, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Corporate Social Responsibility, oder kurz CSR, ist heutzutage ein weitverbreiteter und in den Medien sowie in den Berichten von Unternehmen häufig verwendeter Begriff. Man könnte meinen, dass dieser Begriff fest etabliert ist und von allen Beteiligten einheitlich verstanden und verwendet wird. Das Gegenteil ist jedoch der Fall. Weder gibt es eine allumfassende Definition, noch verstehen unterschiedliche Anspruchsgruppen, wie Mitarbeiter, Shareholder oder Umweltschutzorganisationen dasselbe unter sozial verantwortlichem Verhalten von Firmen, insbesondere wenn sie unterschiedlichen Nationalitäten angehören. Betrachtet man das ganze auf einer internationalen Ebene fällt schnell auf, dass CSR als eine amerikanische Erfindung angesehen werden kann (Bassen et al. 2005). In Europa halten kommunizierte CSR-Aktivitäten bei den Unternehmen erst seit den 1990er Jahren in größerem Umfang Einzug. Oft wird in der Literatur darauf hingewiesen, dass der Staat hier viele Verantwortlichkeiten der Unternehmen regelt (z. B. Kindermann 2008; Matten & Moon 2008). Aufgrund der evidenten und theoriebegründeten Unterschiede möchte sich diese Arbeit mit einem Vergleich der CSR-Ausgestaltung von Firmen aus den USA und Deutschland beschäftigen. Die Kernfrage dieser Arbeit lautet: Lassen sich die theoriebegründeten Unterschiede der CSR- Ausgestaltung deutscher und amerikanischer Firmen tatsächlich in der Praxis wiederfinden? Zur Beantwortung dieser Frage werden einerseits Studienergebnisse aus der CSR Forschung herangezogen, und andererseits eine Analyse der CSR- Aktivitäten der oben genannten Dimensionen von General Motors und Volkswagen, als jeweilige Repräsentanten eines landestypischen Industrieunternehmens, anhand ihrer Intern
