About the Author: Julio M. Shiling es politólogo, escritor, conferenciante y Director del foro político y la publicación digital, Patria de Martí. Tiene una Maestría en Ciencias Políticas de la Universidad Internacional de la Florida (FIU) de Miami, Florida. Es miembro de The American Political Science Association ("La Asociación Norteamericana de Ciencias Políticas"), el International Political Science Association ("La Asociación Internacional de Ciencias Políticas") y el PEN Club de Escritores Cubanos en el Exilio. Sus artículos y ensayos se han reproducido en decenas de publicaciones impresas y electrónicas en los EE UU, América Latina y Europa. Es autor de Dictaduras y sus paradigmas, (Eriginal Books, 2013) una obra pormenorizada consistiendo de dos tomos, que ha recibido comentarios y reseñas excelentes por ser este un trabajo minucioso que examina, como sugiere su subtítulo, ¿Por qué algunas dictaduras se caen y otras no? Desde el 2006, viene dirigiendo Patria de Martí (www.patriademarti.com) un medio digital que reúne el trabajo de numerosos autores, seleccionados por su aporte a la promoción y la preservación de la libertad y la democracia. Patria de Martí fue galardonada con el Premio Derechos Humanos Libertad 2015 por la Asociación por la Paz Continental (ASOPAZCO), una ONG española consagrada con la promoción de los derechos humanos en el mundo. En capacidad de politólogo frecuenta programas de la radio y la televisión que incluyen: WLRN (PBS), NTN24, Mundo Fox, Mira TV, América Te Ve, CNN, Univisión, La Poderosa WWFE, Radio Martí, Actualidad Radio y Democracia TV. Ha fundado y dirigido empresas de seguros y servicios financieros. Actualmente está llevando a cabo la investigación para un libro sobre Cuba y sus perspectivas de democratización.
