La rebelión estalla una noche, cuando los ancianos atacan a los gestores con objetos cotidianos, desatando una lucha brutal. Don Julio y Amelia son capturados y sometidos a un castigo cruel: se les encierra en una habitación sin comida ni luz, de la misma forma en que los ancianos habían sido tratados.
