Excerpt: The Crimson Moon is a major plot element from Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Ring of Fates. The "Golden Age" of the world, taking place thousands of years before the original Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles, during which all the races lived in peace, and when the Great Crystal, into which "all fates are etched," protected the people from the "malefic glow of the blood-red moon." The moon is said to cause monsters to appear, and to have been pure evil. It was once part of earth before it was infected, after that the moon was pushed away by the crystals. At the end of Ring of Fates, in the world Yuri created, the moon is not evil and said never to have been, but it is still in the sky. This shows that the moon was once infected with evil at one time. Ignes Fatui are the manifestation of the souls of the dead in Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Ring of Fates. They appear next to Yuri and Chelinka's home, over Lake Cyela.
