Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2004 im Fachbereich Germanistik - Neuere Deutsche Literatur, Note: 1,3, Universität Konstanz, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Zwischen Frank Wedekinds Drama Lulu und Irmgard Keuns Roman Das kunstseidene Mädchen liegt vor allem ein historisches Ereignis: der erste Weltkrieg. Für die Frauen der Zeit brachte dieser Krieg unter anderem eine Veränderung der gesamten Arbeitssituation mit sich. Sie mus sten die Männer nun ersetzen und so eröffnete sich für sie zum ersten Mal der Weg in männliche Arbeitsfelder. Nach dem Krieg wurde von den Frauen erwartet, die Arbeitsplätze wieder für die Männer frei zu machen. Die meisten Arbeitnehmerinnen fügten sich, gingen dem 'Beruf' Ehefrau nach oder suchten sich eine Anstellung in den Bereichen, für die Frauen als besonders geeignet angesehen wurden. Dazu gehörten eher schlecht bezahlte Tätigkeiten wie Haus- oder Kindermädchen, Büroangestellte und andere. Doch natürlich liegt zwischen den beiden Werken mehr als Zeit und historische Ereignisse. Die Hauptfiguren Lulu und Doris stehen nicht nur für unterschiedliche Weiblichkeitskonzeptionen, sie entstammen auch verschiedenen literarischen Gattungen, dem Drama und dem Roman. Während Keun dem Rezipienten Aufschluss über das Innenleben der Protagonistin ermö glicht, die Psychologie der Figur beschreibt, bleibt Lulu selbst für den Leser immer eine Bühnenfigur, die ihre Inne nansicht verweigert. Lulu erscheint zunächst als die stärkere und unabhängigere Persönlichkeit, die sich ihrer Sexualität wesentlich bewusster ist und diese auch radikaler auslebt als Doris. Dennoch geht sie ihrem Abstieg unaufhaltsam entgegen, hat sich zuvor durch (fast) alle sozialen Stufen ihrer Zeit bewegt. Doris hingegen verbleibt immer auf der Ebene der Angestellten bzw. der Arbeiter. Zwar macht sie Ausflüge in das bürgerliche und großbürgerliche Milieu, doch bleibt sie sich der Differenz immer bewusst und scheitert auch daran. [...]
