FUN Tweens is third in the TRANSiTiONiNG Series of self-help books for English Speakers or English Language Learners with limited English proficiency. This book is part of a series of scholastic development products for English Language Learners [ELLs]. The activities in this series have been designed with a special focus on providing self-help educational products for ELLs with limited English proficiency [LEP], which includes tweens, teens and those who have begun their first year of college. It offers the additional benefit of being written in a form that allows the learner to enlist the assistance of a 'facilitator': any Anglophone willing to help. The TRANSiTiONiNG Series is a motivational collection. This series sensitizes each learner to her or his choice of words by using situational vocabulary and occasionally inserting the colloquia -- common-speak word -- immediately following it. The indicator 'cs' precedes the colloquia. Additionally, icons have been included on each activity page. These icons are colorful and multi-dimensional to stimulate the learner's thinking. The TRANSiTiONiNG Series was created, developed, and market tested in many states in northern and southern China during a 3 to 10 year period. During these years, massive amounts of middle and high school as well as college students struggled to achieve enough English language skills to attend high schools and colleges in America and other western, English-speaking countries. The market testing and verification phase of this series enabled the authors to identify the most effective content for this series. The activities included in this series were proven to be the most enjoyable while moving participants from theatrically-based memorization of English toward communicative English for general classroom and standard tertiary interaction as well as the most effective for the scholastic-specific development of individual listening, speaking and instructional reading skills.
About the Author: I.A. Mohabier is an international researcher who has devoted 10 years in China to conducting cognitive, pedagogical research to develop educational material for traditional and non-traditional learners. The author has philanthropically e-published and distributed over 20 Workbooks specifically designed to reinforce the classroom experiences of thousands of academically challenged learners and is currently applying that research data to developing educational resources and training programs for unique learners and entrepreneurs of all ages to "Strengthen America Within." The author holds an interdisciplinary Masters Degree in Women's Studies, Political Science, Health and Business Administrations as well as Certifications in Mediation, Civil Litigation, Gerontology and Health and Wellness practices. E. F. Hunter is a Language Arts Consultant who has assisted education administrators and real estate developers in China to modernize their scholastic offerings and internationalize their communities. His interactions with Administrators of public and private Middle Schools and High Schools has resulted in the development of 'unique' English Language Learner Curricula [ELLC] that addresses the cultural and economic realities of each group of students. Additionally, the implementation of his Community Service Programs for Real Estate developers -- seeking to internationalize their communities -- resulted in increased sales and homeowner satisfaction as well as higher enrollment in community schools, which reduced transportation cost for parents while increasing student safety. In addition to continuing to advise administrators and real estate developers, the author is now contributing his most effective curricula content to the TRANSiTiONiNG Series. Mr. Hunter holds a degree in English, grew up on America's east coast, attended private and public schools, and began his consulting career as a Foreign Expert Educator with China's Ministry of Education. While consulting in China, he and I.A. Mohabier engineered and implemented Christian-based curricula at a private Middle School and have continued to support each others China-based projects. The author has continued to develop specialized curricula for a variety of Chinese ELLs as well as share his expertise and experience with novice teachers.
