About the Book

Jazz Age Chronicles was nominated for an Ignatz Award in the category "Outstanding Online Comic" and named one of the best webcomics by The Webcomics Examiner. Here are collected the 1st five issue issues in the series. It's Boston in the 1920s. Famed Harvard archaeologist Clifton Jennings, international adventurer and discoverer of ancient treasures, has some adventures no one knows about. He's a member of a Secret Society, one that guards against supernatural threats and unscrupulous meddlers in the black arts. One such meddler is the Baroness Marlene Von Treska, with whom Jennings shares a history. In our first story arc The Case of the Beguiling Baroness, when she is rumored to be in town, Jennings and his Secret Society hire seedy private eye Ace Mifflin to keep tabs on her whereabouts. And that's when their troubles really begin...Next, In Vote Early & Often, the detective finds himself unwittingly in the spotlight when he publicly accuses the leading candidate for district attorney of a murder his friend is on trial for! Will he get his friend out of jail, or just put himself in? Chronicles, Volume One follows the first adventures of Jennings and Ace and their adventure-seeking gang as they go up against threats both earthly and supernatural. REVIEWS: "...a very good period private-eye story... an excellent mixture of the realistic and the fantastic... pick up a copy. Grade: A." - Don Thompson, Comics Buyer's Guide. . "Jazz Age Chronicles is an extremely well-crafted detective series.... Jazz Age Chronicles' creator, Ted Slampyak, has filled his comic with references to the era. That's the sort of touch that I appreciate..." - Cliff Biggers, Comic Shop News. "[Ted Slampyak's] backgrounds give a strong feeling of credibility to the plot. I really feel like the characters are in a city that exists. The story comes alive because of it...." - Gene Colan, Hall-of-Fame artist, Daredevil, Tomb of Dracula.
About the Author: Ted Slampyak was born in Philadelphia and is a graduate of Temple University's Tyler School of Art. He is the creator of Jazz Age Chronicles, which was originally released in comic format before continuing as a webcomic. Until the summer of 2010, Ted was the long time artist on the syndicated comic strip of Little Orphan Annie. He has also worked on Neil Gaiman's Mr. Hero from Tekno Comix and contributed to Paradox Press "The Big Book of..." titles and created comics featuring his libertarian heroine Suzi Romaine. His work has been nominated for an Ignatz Award, and he has been the recipient of a local Addy Award by the American Advertising Federation.
