About the Book

The Journals of The Big Mouth Bass - Promises Can Ruin Your Life is book two of five, are a child's Journals to God. Debbie is the main character and was given the name The Big Mouth Bass by her brother for not being able to keep a secret as reveled in book Keeping Secrets. Having a terrible nick name can sometimes be a gift. Debbie writes about her life experiences and the lessons she learns from them in her journal so that she can share with God. Some of the other lessons in her journals are everyday challenges kids have like being teased, making friends and learning the difference between making good choices and making bad choices. They are funny at times and heart breaking at others. Debbie also shares her feelings about these lessons in her journals. Her journals lend a little understanding to the way parents and kids think and where the conflict between both comes in but more importantly where the understanding takes over the conflict. Debbie is a tom boy at heart who longs to have a girl friend to share her secrets with. This is her biggest conflict because for her to have girlfriends she has to be willing to do the things that girls like to do and she hates the things that girls like to do. She also refuses to part with her high top sneakers and jeans. She protests at the mere site of a dress and protests even more when she has to untangle the mop on her head. She detests her freckles and red hair but tolerates them as long as she is free to play baseball and run with the boys everyday. Debbie has the challenge of being too shy around the kids in school and struggles with not having any friends at school. This makes her school experience difficult although she has a love of learning she hates feeling alone and threatened at school. Her dog Chopper, her brother Dell and the Sunny Side Gang are her only friends and they are either not allowed in school or they are older than Debbie and they don't see each other in school. Debbie and her brother Dell have a way of finding trouble or trouble has a way of finding them which is always followed by an adventure. It is what they do with this trouble that make the stories funny and the lessons heard. Their journeys together are heart warming and kid friendly and will help kids understand the consequences of their choices and the lessons that life brings to them. In the end Debbie finds the belief in the girl she is and the acceptance of her looks and differences through her own writings. The Journals of The Big Mouth Bass will delight kids in knowing they are not alone in how they feel.
