Die Texte wurden auf einer Veranstaltung vorgestellt, die dem Andenken an die Opfer der Novemberprogrome des Jahres 1938 gewidmet war. Im Zentrum stand der Wunsch der Erinnerung an jüdische kulturelle und religiöse Spuren in Stadt und Universität. Der Band enthält den Text von Michael Busch über das seinerzeit höchst fortschrittliche jüdische Emanzipationsedikt von 1813 für Mecklenburg und stellt die Frage nach der Rolle des Rostocker Orientalisten Oluf Gerhard Tychsen (1734-1815) bei seiner Vorbereitung. Steffi Katschke diskutiert die Frage von jüdischen Studenten an der Universität Rostock im 18. Jahrhundert. Melanie Lange stellt ein wertvolles Buch aus den Beständen der Universitätsbibliothek vor, die Hebräisch-Grammatik von Elia Levita (1469-1549) und dessen Übersetzung durch den christlichen Kosmographen und Hebraisten Sebastian Münter (1488-1552). Malgorzata Anna Maksymiak unterzieht die Sammlung von jiddischen und hebräischen Privatbriefen des schon erwähnten Gelehrten Tychsen einer kritischen Prüfung und entwickelt die Frage nach der Herkunft von Tychsens Interessen und kommunikativen Verflechtungen, die sie in einem Zusammenhang von Kolonisierung und Kulturkontakt diskutiert.

Dr. rer. nat. mit der Arbeit "Quantenchemische Berechnungen zur Thermodynamik chemischer Gleichgewichte", seit 1981 wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin bzw. geschäftsführende Assistentin am Institut für Chemie, Lehrbeauftragte für die Grundlagen der Chemie für Studierende der Humanmedizin, der Zahnheilkunde, der Medizinischen Biotechnologie, der Biomedizintechnik und des Maschinenbaus, Lehrbeauftragte für Geschichte der Chemie, Arbeiten zur Geschichte der Chemieunterrichts, zur Popularisierung der Chemie im 19. Jahr-hundert, zur Rezeption des Periodensystems in Deutschland, zu Deutsch-Russischen Wissenschaftsbeziehungen, zu Chemikerinnen sowie zur Universitätsgeschichte, seit 2003 Sprecherin des Arbeitskreises "Rostocker Universitäts- und Wissenschaftsgeschichte" (gemeinsam mit Prof. Dr. H.-U.
