On est en train d'assister a une rupture radicale, qui fait echo a l'evolution du capitalisme dans le monde. Il est desormais necessaire de reevaluer notre propre position dans cet apres-guerre, de retrouver les reflexes critiques des intellectuels qui nous ont precedes, pour penser cette rupture et ses consequences, et eventuellement, y resister. About the Author: Contributor Biography - French Kato Shuichi (1919-2008) commenca a ecrire tres jeune, des ses etudes en medecine a l'universite de Tokyo, ou il fonda le cercle litteraire Matinee poetique . Il exerca comme medecin jusqu'en 1958, quand il decida de se vouer completement a l'ecriture. Sa popularite est notamment liee a la rubrique qu'il signa regulierement, de 1984 a 2008, pour l'edition du soir de l'Asahi shinbun. Voyageur et cosmopolite, il enseigna en Allemagne, aux Etats-Unis, au Canada et au Japon. En Occident, il est connu surtout pour son Histoire de la litterature japonaise (1975-1980) et pour son autobiographie, Le Chant du mouton (1967). Contributor Biography - French Takeuchi Yoshimi (1910-1977) etudia le chinois a l'universite de Tokyo. En 1932, il voyagea en Coree et en Mandchourie avant de se fixer a Pekin. En 1934, il participa a la fondation de la revue Chugoku bungaku (Etudes chinoises). Son sejour en Chine dura jusqu'en 1939. Enrole en 1943, il vecut la fin de la guerre sur le continent. Il enseigna a l'universite de Tokyo et a l'universite Keio. En 1960, il demissionna pour protester contre le renouvellement du traite de securite nippoamericain. Ses oeuvres majeures sont Lu Xun (1944), auteur qu'il a en grande partie traduit en japonais, et La Chine actuelle (1951). Contributor Biography - French Hashikawa Bunso (1922-1983) etudia les sciences politiques a l'universite de Tokyo. Il lut les symbolistes francais, les romantiques allemands, puis redecouvrit la litterature japonaise. De sante fragile, il echappa a l'envoi sur le front et passa la derniere annee de la guerre dans l'administration. Devenu enseignant a l'universite Meiji, il se fit connaitre pour ses essais sur le romantisme et l'ultranationalisme: Introduction a la critique de l'Ecole romantique japonaise (1960) ou Aspects de la pensee politique du Japon moderne (1968). Contributor Biography - French Tsurumi Shunsuke (1922-2015), fils et petit-fils d'hommes politiques, etudia la philosophie a Harvard. Apres le conflit, il participa a la fondation de la revue mensuelle Shiso no kagaku (Science de la pensee). Sa renommee est liee surtout a son engagement pacifiste. Il collabora a plusieurs mouvements citoyens, contre le renouvellement du traite de securite nippo-americain ou la guerre du Vietnam, ou encore a l'Association pour l'Article 9, opposee a une revision de la Constitution visant a eliminer la fameuse clause pacifiste. Parmi ses textes les plus connus, Histoire intellectuelle du Japon en guerre: 1931-1945 (1982).
