The profiles can be used as informal tools to guide problem-solving and enhance supplemental tutoring or intervention services, pre-referral intervention, assessment or program planning, progress monitoring, and more. With the collaborative assistance of an educational intervention specialist, the profile is completed and the results applied in a problem-solving process to generate meaningful, practical intervention or support strategies from the front lines. When those who do the work are the ones who inform decisions and create strategies to spur progress, the reins are in the proper hands.Profile forms and procedures were developed by the author based on extensive study, training, and experience, and then implemented on the job with teachers as a tool to assist in collaborative problem-solving. About the Author: The profiles and supporting materials were developed by Dr. Tipton, Doctor of Psychology, educational psychology specialization, using her professional study, training, and experience. Dr. Tipton served students, school staff, and families while working as a school psychologist for 16 years in both California and Nevada. She also worked privately as an educational psychologist, providing independent services directly to families and in consultation with schools for three years. She now maintains a small publishing and consultation business in Carson City, Nevada. As a school and educational psychologist, Dr. Tipton's primary duties included assessment, intervention planning, educational and behavior consultation, counseling, professional development, and community education. Her focus was on empowering students, teachers, and families in their work by guiding knowledge and skill development, and by providing tools and resources for increased effectiveness and efficiency. She maintains a student-centered orientation, with strong beliefs in early intervention and the need to promote student progress by supporting and empowering the people who actually do the work.
