Excerpt from Minutes of the Second Annual Session of the Mt. Carmel Ala. Baptist Association: Held With the Cedar Grove Church, Madison Co., Ala., October 25th, 26th, 27th, and 28th, 1878 The ministers and delegates, composing the Second Annual Ses sion of the Mt. Carmel Baptist Association, met with Cedar Grove Church, Madison county, Alabama, on Friday, the 2 sth of October, 1878.
The Introductory Sermon was preached by Elder E. N. Maples, at 11 o'clock A. M., (matthew, xxviii, 19 in an earnest and instructive manner.
After a short intermission, the delegates were called to order by Elder J. W. Brown, former Moderator; Elder E. N. Maples, acting as clerk.
After prayer by Bro. Ira R. Foster, the Moderator appointed brethren Foster and O. H. Alford to read church letters; after which Elder J. W. Brown was elected Moderator, and Bro. O: H. Alford Clerk. The Moderator thanked the brethren for the honor conferred on him, and asked their aid and prayers in the discharge of his du ties, and declared the Association organized for business.
