About the Book

Miguel Villaseñor García llegó a ser director del departamento de Música de La Universidad de Guadalajara durante dos periodos a partir del año 1974, escuela a donde fue invitado, por el célebre compositor entonces director del plantel, Domingo Lobato Bañales. Murió joven el año de 1999 el día 21 de julio a causa de la diabetes. Entre sus alumnos destacados debo mencionar a: Los hermanos Martínez, Juan, Ismael y. Ricardo. Los hermanos Gerardo y Gustavo Vargas, Félix Becerra, su asistente Héctor de quien no recuerdo el apellido, Ricardo Hernández Rincón Gallardo, Luciano Pérez, Julieta Marón, José Luís Romo, José Dolores Alvarado Enríquez, Marco Aurelio Santacruz Luebbert, Sergio Guerrero Ochoa, Yoshikuni Nakamura, Francisco Galindo, Juan Carlos Mancilla, Héctor Mejía, Alejandro Torres, Rodrigo Ruy Arias, Daniel Escoto Villalobos, José "El Negro Franco", Miguel Solórzano y los actualmente brillantes profesores. Juan Antonio Zetter, Miguel Tejeda y Marcela Rojas. Los arreglos.El antecedente de arreglistas guitarristas de música mexicana, va desde el famoso Antonio Bibriesca, pasando por interesantes aunque elementales intentos, [se debe diferenciar lo que es una mera trascripción consistente en adaptar las notas escritas para el piano, por ejemplo, a la exigencia y conocimiento requerida para elaborar un arreglo], Francisco Salinas, Pedro Castro Varela, Ramón Noble, Gilberto Puente, más recientemente Miguel Peña y Julio Cesar Oliva. Desde siempre, Miguel Villaseñor García mostró su interés por dotar a la guitarra, de arreglos serios de la música de México. Arreglos para guitarristas dotados, de técnica depurada y excelsa formación en lo artístico y humanístico.Los arreglos nos muestran una formación extra académica enjundiosa, un conocimiento sui generis a propósito de la armonía, la orquestación, el contrapunto, y la síncopa por momentos jazzística lo que lo coloca, a nivel mundial, como uno de los grandes teóricos para el instrumento, incomprendido en vida, como suele suceder. Entre los tratados en los que debió abrevar el conocimiento el maestro Villaseñor cabe citar el: Tratado de contrapunto tonal y atonal de José García Diego del Conservatorio Superior de Música de Barcelona, el Tratado Sintético de Contrapunto del maestro Julián Carrillo, el Traite D´ harmonie de Emile Durand en donde se observan incontables notas realizadas a lápiz por el profesor Villaseñor, el Tratado de armonía de Athos Palma, Principios de orquestación de Rimski Korsakov, el tratado práctico de armonía del mismo Korsakov revisado por Jacobo y Miguel Fisher y ampliado por Maximilian Steinberg, el método de la maestra polaca Elzbieta Rakowska Görska y el método para guitarra Still Jazz del norteamericano Joe Pass. La MúsicaLa música de México ha pasado, desde la época antecolombina, por varias etapas en su desarrollo.A partir de la evangelización europea, se nutrió de un vasto esquema de estilos y formas, tanto en los géneros religiosos y de la música formal o de concierto, como en el apartado de la música profana o perteneciente al pueblo.El crisol que amalgama a la actual música popular, abreva esencialmente del amplio espectro a partir de los sonecitos emanados del sentir de la gente durante y posterior a las gesta independentistas. Posteriormente las guerras de reforma, la revolución mexicana, la guerra cristera hasta la actualidad, con el advenimiento de la radio comercial y los nuevos sistemas de comunicación.Se nutre principalmente de corridos, boleros, canciones que se han desarrollado paralelamente, al folclor más tradicional, el etnomusicológico; perteneciente ancestralmente a las culturas y etnias indígenas mestizadas.
