About the Book

When the Sheriff of the dusty town of Pykes Crossing Arizona raped and then murdered Pattie Miller, her son Brandon now orphaned aged just thirteen, was the only witness to the crimes. Knowing he would never get justice for his Mom's murder he warned Holstein to his face, "You will pay for what you did. You won't see me coming but one day I will step out the shadows and snuff out your life."The scene was set for a deadly game of cat and mouse where one of them had to die.Holstein dropped the boy off at a remote farm and paid the in-bred family to kill the boy and dispose of his body. Three years later Holstein discovered he had been tricked. The farmer kept the boy alive to work the farm. When the entire family perished in an accidental house fire Brandon was falsely convicted and sent to prison where Holstein intended the boy to die in a staged jail fight. The plot to have him killed failed when Brandon an expert in martial arts beat off his attackers causing the deaths of two them. Now, dangerous forces gathered to finally have Miller killed. Just hours before a planned attack, he had a visit from a man he had never met. Colonel H Schneider offered Miller the chance to get out of jail in return for him signing up to join a team of recruits to be trained up as assassins working for the US army at a mysterious facility called Area 57. Thinking this was his one chance to get out of jail and go back and kill that cop, Brandon signed up. After the army officers had his entire identity removed, Brandon adopted the name Nemesis. When he discovered Area 57 was escape-proof, he got to grips with his assassin training and waited for the day when they sent him out in his first mission where he planned to fake his own death, escape and then go back and kill the cop. His military masters had a plan to make sure that none of the nine recruits could escape the programme. After almost a year of tough training, two weeks before the team were due to go live, they were all sedated and had their brains pumped with chemicals that destroyed their memories and turned them into compliant killing droids. When it was discovered the drugs were beginning to cause psychosis, the decision was made to have them all culled. Brandon was the only one to escape. Now on the run and branded as a terrorist, Nemesis faked his own death in a spectacular bomb blast that destroyed the iconic Arlington Memorial bridge in Washington D.C. Now that he was free to go back to Pykes Crossing to kill, the cop, his childhood sweetheart Millie told him, "Brandon what you did as Nemesis was due to the drugs. There must be no more killings. If you kill the Sheriff, then you and I can never be the same. I want you to promise me you won't kill him."Brandon faced a dilemma. Keeping his promise to Millie that the cop wouldn't die at his hands would be breaking the covenant he made at his Mom's grave where he vowed the cop must pay with his life for her murder. Could he find a way to honour both obligations?
