Jan. 15.--The Norwich Volunteer Infantry, under the command of Lieut. Colonel De Hague, formed into a battalion of five companies of 60 men each/ 28.--In consequence of a rapid thaw, the lower parts of the city were deluged; some of the houses were' six or seven feet under water, and boats were actually rowed in St. Martin's at Oak street: Pa the inundation in the meadows was so great, that the barge proceeding to Yarmouth was obliged to return, because the men were unable to find the channel of the river. The fen country had the appearance of a sea. The damage done estimated at a million of money. Jan. 30.--In a violent gale, a stack of chimnies fell on the roof of an old house in Cockey-laue, Norwich, in which Mr. and Mrs. Graham (shopkeepers) slept, and buried them both in the ruins. Mr. Graham was taken out dead; Mrs. Graham was just alive, but died soon after.--Same night a large tree, at the entrance to Sprowston-hall, was blown down. It was planted the day King Charles was beheaded, Jan. 30, 1649, and blown down the same day, 1809, being 160 years old. Feb. 3.--Mr. S.
