Excerpt: Agata Forest (アガタの森, Agata no mori) is a location that appears in Ōkami and Ōkamiden. A lush swampland full of tall trees and many residents, it is available to Amaterasu after she learns some new Celestial Brush techniques. Yumigami, the goddess of the moon, took residence in the moon's reflection on the water's surface. However, she was consumed by Whopper, a large red catfish. After being consumed, the moon never shone in Agata Forest, and the waters where Whopper inhabited became murky, naming it "Deep Abyss." Yumigami patiently waited for Amaterasu to revive her. However, it is possible that the moon goddess was furious at Amaterasu since she tried striking the sun goddess with her hammer, though this may be because Amaterasu seemed to desired her mochi, or it may be a rivalry between the sun and the moon. Agata Forest as it appears in Ōkamiden. It has been flooded by the catfish Bullhead. Ankoku Temple is a minor landmark in Ōkami. It is found up a hill in Ryoshima Coast near the entrance to City Checkpoint.
