Paracosm Press is thrilled to present- ORC LORE: POETRY ABOUT THE GODS, which serves as tales and fireside ephemera for NALA SAGA (which is free to read, for now- AnthonyLeePhillips.com )
NALA SAGA is an epic third-limited new adult poetic-fantasy, a trilogy of trilogies. The motto at Paracosm is, "Words like Rothfuss, but released like Sanderson."
The tales in ORC LORE serve as a backdrop for NALA SAGA, which is a novel combines the mythic atmosphere of Tigana, by Guy Gavriel Kay, the poetic style of Name of the Wind, by Patrick Rothfuss, the emotion magic of Firestarter, by Stephen King, and the immersive fantasy settings of video games like The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, and Elden Ring.
Nala, the 11-year-old Orc, lives in the remote region of Orcshire, in the shadow of Mount Wraithwood. Growing up sheltered, Nala wants adventure almost as much as she wants to be liked.
At night, she dreams in present tense. She dreams she is a boy- a child soldier named Bakura, who has only managed to survive with the help of a demonic drinking dagger. These are not good dreams.
When their paths cross, Nala and Bakura become embroiled in a cascade of cryptic misfortunes, confusing curses, and a quest that takes them into the Bone Temple at the heart of Mount Wraithwood. But the monster they hunt is guarding a secret that threatens to burn the whole world.
When the kids find a bone mask that matches Bakura's dagger, the demon within tempts him with an offer: "I can bring your mother back to life. All you have to do is let me borrow your body..." And when the boy says "yes," the little god of vengeance will be free to fly again.
Thus begins the tale of Nala Dagmur, and Bakura. The circle turns...
