About the Book

Zac Kimball expected a quiet archeological dig on Patmos Island, a beautiful site in the Aegean Sea. What he got instead was danger, intrigue, and a life-changing adventure. Accompanied by his intriguing assistant, Kyra Adara of the Greek Historical Association, they both discover they are made of strong inner fortitude. They will need this and more as the Ophite serpent cult pursues them across western Turkey, intent on taking for themselves a parchment in Kimball's possession that promises untold power. Somehow this power seems to be tied to seven lampstands described in the Book of Revelation. Zac and Kyra need to outwit their pursuers as they look for the seven lampstands (if they actually exist). In the adventure, they ascertain the true power of God that is proclaimed in the parchment and succumb to an overpowering love - both God's love and their own. Watched over by godly mentors, they seek to uncover the true power of God hidden in... The Patmos Parchment.
About the Author: For as long as Jim Thoburn can remember, he has loved adventure yarns. He grew up with shelves brimming with books by Burroughs, Stevenson, Sabatini, Pyle and Barry. And he has been telling tales for as long as he can remember as well. As children, he and his twin brother put together epic stories with their toy plastic cowboys, Indians, army men, and animals that would cover the entire living room for days. As he grew older, Jim came into a relationship with Jesus during the notable Jesus Movement of the late '60s and early '70s. Speaking on college campuses and to large gatherings of young people weekly, Jim continued to tell stories, but now they were stories pointing to The Story of Jesus and His love for all of humanity. As a pastor, Jim wanted to write a tale full of adventure wrapped around an authentic proclamation of Jesus' good news. In a day and age when religion is often bad news for people, the good news of Jesus, which is for every person, is good news of dignity and unconditional love. It is a much better story than we often communicate! After becoming a pastor, he served several churches in the Pacific Northwest and currently is at Community Presbyterian Church nestled in the Cascade foothills, overshadowed by mighty Mt. Rainier. He has four grown children and resides with his wife Gloria in a cozy bungalow near the rocky beaches of Puget Sound.
