About the Book

Journeys through history, fantastic creatures, and epic scenes between good and evil are all contained in this story lifted out of context from the ancient stories of the Bible. Combining the writings of King Solomon in the Old testament with the inscrutable vision of the disciple John in his descriptions in the last book of the New Testament, Peregrina and Her Beloved transcends the fantasy genre and enters into a world where dream meets reality, and the result is a fictional world synthesizing truth and creative thought into a gripping tale of devotion and veracity regarding how the world exists. This enigmatic story of a person's devotion to and an extended search for a Beloved person captures the imagination of all who love someone. Campbell explains how the literal images of the Bible combine with the realm of imagination to encompass a tale for discerning readers of all ages. Deceptively simple and direct, Peregrina and Her Beloved captivates the reader with adventures, characters, and truths that speak to all readers who will take the time to explore. A glossary of terms is included to clarify symbolic images in the text. The innocence and purity of a bride is put to the test as she searches for her groom through an extended dream, bringing her to confront issues and events from historical and symbolic images found in Scripture. Aided by members of the Panoplia family, she is nurtured, protected and counseled on her search, only to discover the Truth at the end of her dream. This book should be required reading in every seminary. The parodies in the use of Greek words are both diverting and amusing to those whose education goes much deeper than pedantic use of epistemology. While the fantasy images are often intense, the recall of anyone's nightmare will bring this allegory into focus. In today's market, the horrific images in the media often sterilize one's imagination deferring to commercial productions. This book preserves your imagination and reserves it for yourself. Enjoy Peregrina and her Beloved, and re-enforce your faith.
