About the Book

ANSWERING MY CALL: When I wrote the poem "A Higher Call" I was actually just messing around on the computer and I came across this poetry "contest." So I figured I would whip something up real quick, a poem that is; nothing too time consuming or mind bending, just a little something to see what this so-called contest was all about, you know, to see if it was a legit organization or not. NOT. But I won't go into detail about those scumbags, for now. What I failed to realize at the time of my little venture was that the quick little poem I threw together so effortlessly, was and is one of the most powerful and perfectly placed poems I ever wrote or read. Period. It let me know what I'm doing here and why I'm here. It gave me a bigger purpose. It gave me meaning. It gave me a job, a real job, a mission. Something I never felt before. And although that day was huge I can't say it was all just because of one thing or one event or one day. No, it was probably a culmination of things that had been happening inside of me and all around me for a year or so. And on this particular day I realized things would never be the same. Something snapped in me and I made a choice to never LET things be the same again. I CHOSE, to never be fooled again, by myself or anyone else. Never, ever. And so my mission began: A mission for more. A mission for the GOOD. To spread some GOOD. To share a message of truth, for the GOOD. The message that winning in this life is a choice, and the message that one person can have such an awesome and powerful effect on the world, and this world is in need of something awesome indeed. I am here to let the world know that no matter what our past or present circumstances may have been or may be, WE can always at any moment, at any time CHOOSE. We can choose to overcome ANYTHING, or we can simply choose to not let ANYTHING in this very short and temporary place, be big enough to have to overcome. We can CHOOSE at any time we please, to wake up and look at this comical place and it's "systems" and see it for what it really is: A beautiful and ridiculously imbalanced "way of life" that has got to be adjusted, and if you can't see that, then I hope I can be of help. We can CHOOSE at any moment to be great. I have. And I have absolutely no concern with what the world has to say about it. NONE. It is my hope that through my words, my story, my example, etc. I will spark a flame, uplift some spirits or even just spread some smiles, because then I will know I am on the right path and coming full circle finally. I want to help. It is my call. And saying that doesn't even come close to explaining what I really mean. Because I know what a truly helpful attitude can and will lead to. And I hope, if not now, that someday you will fully understand it, too. Now, the most important thing that happened the day I wrote this particular poem, was the most sobering, surreal, and scary thing that I had ever experienced in my life. It was the moment my girlfriend Brandee (Mother of my 6 year old son Ryan Jr.) fell limp in my arms, and for a moment, we both believe She passed away (Died). And I stared right through her eyes and deep into emptiness and nothingness. I refused to panic and with pure will and spiritual stubbornness, in that moment of mixed emotions of fear and confusion, combined with an undying faith in GOD and GOOD, I refused to let her go and I "zapped" her back, through divine will and BELIEF. And through that moment of "GODLOVE" I gained a certain power and a vision. I have awakened. It has led me to this mission. I will not relent. And your support is greatly appreciated. Thank you. PEACELOVELIGHT -Ryan Patrick Gibbons
About the Author: My name is Ryan Gibbons, I was born on November 29th, 1975, on a very cold and snowy winter day in Saint Paul, MN. I come from a long line of fighters and writers. All of my life I have tried to be part of a society that I never understood, but time and time again I failed to succeed. That was until one day it occurred to me that, although it seemed I had been doing all the wrong things in my life, the reality was, and is that I have been a very powerful training program. I have been training to be a story of inspiration, this is the beginning. This is a part of my story.
