About the Book

A popular R&B/jazz club and restaurant, situated in a busy block of Melrose Avenue, Popi's Place has been a Hollywood hot spot for over sixty years, providing live music, seven nights a week, to loyal regulars and a nightly sprinkle of cool celebrities. Every Saturday night, six girlfriends gather to dish dirt, compare love notes, and kick up their heels at their favorite night spot. They are each different in their personal and private lives, but somehow they all blend together to create relationships that survive all kinds of hell. What are people saying about Popi's Place?"I was transported into the world of Popi's Place. It was so good, it left me wanting more!!!" -- Craig Cochran, DreamWorks Animation"The story of six friends sharing love, friendship and secrets, and how the lives of these women are tangled up, messed up and in need of the soul searching which will allow them to be the people they are meant to be. Popi's Place...where truth and faith transcends and illuminates the female spirit in this first, moving novel by Rainelle Saunders."--Tara Sullivan, CEO, Creative Creations "Rainelle Saunders' Popi's Place captivates from sentence one. Can you say juicy? Say it twice - juicy, juicy. Written with humor, eloquence, grittiness, and sophistication, the tapestry of distinctly complex characters is masterfully and vividly woven - shocking you one moment, intriguing you the next and cracking you up the next. Popi's Place is packed with surprises and pulls on every emotion."--Stacey Johnson-Whaley, Film Producer"When you can visualize the setting and what each person looks like, then you know the picture has been painted with detailed strokes, and that is how Popi's Place is painted. You want to turn each page to have more and more revealed."--Jeannine Fisher, Jeannine Fisher Casting"A delicious mix....was quickly sucked into each character and I wanted more, more, and some more. A fantastic read from a first time author!"--Yolanda J., Owner, A Tart To Remember
About the Author: A true renaissance woman, Rainelle Saunders has spread her wings beyond her birthplace in Connecticut to reach for the stars that filled her childhood dreams. By age six, she was recognized as a creative writer and placed in a group of gifted children. Throughout her school years, she wrote plays, stories, poetry and songs, and eventually went on to study drama at NYU. Rainelle began her professional artistic career in NYC. After a few years, destiny brought her to Hollywood, where she became a writer/actor on a show for BET. With KARTI Productions, she and four friends wrote, produced and acted in several stage productions, and sold their first screenplay. Rainelle completed several other screenplays and stage plays over the years. She's also published several songs, and recorded a spoken word CD. In 2005, Rainelle completed her first independent feature, I Dance in Jasmine, which she wrote, produced and starred in. Expanding into directing, she produced and directed It Makes Sense, a documentary short, and is directing and co-producing a documentary feature. Popi's Place is her first novel, and there are more to come. Rainelle brings her loving spirit to every project and continues to be blessed with opportunities to use her many gifts. These gifts and their expressions are a great part of who she is: a creative being...being creative.
